THE HAZARDS OF EVENT BLOGGING - MISCOMMUNICATION AND MISHANDLING: I WAS USED

DISCLAIMER: MY BLOG IS A BLOG ABOUT ASIAN COSMETICS, KPOP, AND OCCASIONALLY, FOOD.  having said that, actresses/models from manila are quite unknown to me, as in  i didn't even know ryan eigenmann or however you spell that that german sounding name is an actor model, he just looks like a de mesa to me. my office mates can attest to this.  so i just know that this young lady Georgina is a model actress.  and therefore am not a fan, Song Hye Go, 2ne1 fan nga ako eh, ok?
AND NOW THE POST 
Some of you may have read that I went to the Garnier Event at far away Robinson's Place Manila and braved the storm last week.  my fucking birthday weekend because i stupidly rsvd to this event.

 on the day of the event i get this text.  i should've known then, tsk tsk tsk
AND ANOTHER THING, i'm not a fan of steven jobs, he's not a saint, he's just a big a thief as bill gates, so puhleezz i don't get why people deify him.  i like apple products, i just don't like the stupid price and how people just lust over a product when they are much cheaper alternates.
so ok, back to the idiotic text, i should've foreseen that just like galeria, the free wifi robinson's provides does not pierce through the department store.  one can give them the benefit of the doubt that these user people is assuming you'd use your the unli plan because nga you have an iphone from globe or smart.  call me poor, but i buy all my phones from the brand dealers/stores directly because i dislike the 2year contracts our telcos tie its subscribers down with.
so even through a storm, even if it was my stooooopid birthday weekend i went out last saturday. so at the event at robinson's place manila i was greeted, and i used gladlycast an sms service that i text this certain number so it will post on my plurk and twitter, alangan naman bibili pa ko ng smart sim para maka tweet, ano, bale? 
i had no name badge kahit nag register pa ko, and ultimately NO loot bag.  i just told the Anna person, that i work right above their L'oreal office and can pick it up by the next working day.
I texted that Anna person by tuesday, di sumagot, i texted again the next day, sumagot na, magfa follow up daw.  
6 days after the event, Friday na, i replied to the original person who invited me.
to which she replied:
takes them an entire work week to organize 6 products that they sell at less than 100 pesos during L'oreal head office sales?
photo below is from blogger Axl Guinto there's his watermark below.  and there's a portfolio, THAT'S what i wanted since i do not know crap about garnier since yun nga hindi sya korean.  axl got this on the day of the event mismo.  no waiting period, no texting required.
7th day, and it's been a week since the event still no press kit.
baka isipin nila hot na hot ako sa items nila, please lang, eh may may bi-annual sales nga ang l'oreal sa baba, i get that for dirt cheap.  
so lesson learned
  • pag may bagyo, sa bahay ka na lang regardless if you made a commitment to attend something
  • pag birthday weekend mo and if the NKOTBSB are in town, mag fan girl na lang at tumambay sa edsa shang at moa to see the back street boys and new kids on the block to have you're own pic with the guys.
yes, i gave them 5 working days, yes, i work right above their office, what's to stop me from confronting their french boss who i keep encountering at the elevators and telling him how his garnier people treated me? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
i won't make habol na, had this been like Asian brands, i woudn't even need to make habol, rosa fiore, the face shop, and kanebo people know what the hell they are doing and treat me well.

ako din, hindi ko kilala yung mga models dito. pag kasama ko yung mga friends ko nagpapanic sila pag nakakakita ng model sa mall. ako napapa- "sino yan?" *loyal kpop fan here* and I agree, korean cosmetic companies know how to treat their customers right.

Aw. :( They should've considered your effort in going to the event even if it was your bday weekend. This is so sad. :(

how bad naman ng experience mo ate Marge... minsan there are just some things na hindi talaga maiiwasan. And sana naisip naman nila yung effort mo nun HALER QC ka pa galing! tsk tsk

yep, may bagyo pa. ano ba yung mag assemble sila ng giveaway bag eh asa garnier stall na kami, super unprofressional grabe. I gave them an entire work week, la parin so here's my blog, dedma na. di ko naman talaga bet products nila since I like asian cosmetics anyway.

hi marge! i've experience that with them too!

I am a budding blogger looking for possible sponsors and Ms. Michelle replied to my email telling me and asking me for my shipping address and they'll send a kit and products for review. So, for a beginner like me, i was really excited. I sent her the info that she was asking.

All I got was THIS: 
"Thank you so much for your response to our inquiries.  We will be updating you soon.  :-)"

And I never got the kit that she was talking about. I even updated her with my city address and she NEVER REPLIED.

I thought i was the only one who experienced it. tsk.

That's horrible, Marge! I'm sorry to hear about your awful experience...at least you have greater strength than me because I'd already have complained to their manager about the employees he's handling and how they've treated you, haha.

I have yet to be invited to events since my blog isn't popular yet or anything and I really wish I'd get at least one invite once in a while, but a situation like this makes you realize that sometimes they're not as great as they sound...

that's very disappointing Marge.. I was scheduled to attend the said event, but it was scheduled in MOA right after your event in Robinson's but on that day, I texted the organizer that I can't make it due to personal reasons.. 

I also experienced a one disappointing event held 2-months ago sa Il Mercanti (food/lifestyle event) and they let me wait for 2-hours from the time scheduled 7:00pm, til it was actually started 9:00pm.. was very disappointing and i walked out (literally).. the organizer run with me with their loot bags, but i didn't accept it, and they still try to bribe me, but still said NO. 

But still I made a review critic for them.. not all events that I have attended receives compliment review from me.. If I saw inappropriate acts, I do blog it, if positive acts share it too .

at the time of the instagram picture buhay pa yung promise that they'll prepare the press kit na and all I had to do was pick it up at their office, doing them a favor not to send it pa to my house via messenger. one week has passed still no press kit, shame on them, they have no word of honor

I was doing these unprofessional people na nga a favor asking them to just prepare it and I WILL BE THE ONE TO PICK IT UP AT THEIR OFC instead of them sending via messenger, a week later, still no press kitt. they can kiss my butt. I am so regretful I spent the afternoon there I should've stayed home

multiply our experiences with many more out there who just let it go na lang. these people are un professional. so paano unless I text pa they'd never initiate that I have a pending case??? they should really copy how professionals do it like rosa fiore of etide house/tony moly, kanebo, and the face shop, kung sino pa yung maliliit sila pa yung ok

Hi Marge you go girl! How unprofessional of them. Buti pa ang mga korean brands they really treat you right and there are professional. Thanks for sharing this. Smile ka na there are other events pa that will treat you with utmost respect :)

thanks hun, hay, a couple of my readers have similar experiences with these garnier girls, super dedma after :-(
then that anna person called me this afternoon out of the blue, no text muna before calling ON A SUNDAY. it merely punctuates her non-professionalism.
i thought that person who leads the marketing for one hyundai was bad, may mas worse pala, ang mga ito user ng twitter ng ibang tao for free publicity without even giving their cheap products away. and see? the press kit given to axl guinto? (last pic above) xerox lang ata? black and white ang picture ni georgina. ga-cheap talaga, noh?

It was like this... I won twice sa twitter giveaway nila... first one was during the duration of my wedding preps, so, I wasn't able to pick up my gift pack. next one was only early this year... kahit hectic ang sched ko, i tried to travel all the way to makati just to claim my GIFT PACKS. Actually, before I did, I made a series of DMs and emails asking them and informing them that i will claim my prize on that particular day. um-oo naman yung ka-DM ko. so, ayun nga... i traveled all the way from sampaloc to makati kahit may class ako ng 1pm. And guess what? ang GIFT PACK ay naging eye roll on. i was dumbfounded habang sbi nya, "ok lang ba?  (handing me the roll on) eto na lang kasi meron, eh." sinabi ko sa girl na i was supposed to claim 2 GIFT PACKS and she only gave me another one. grabe ang inis ko nun! imagine, hindi ko naman kabisado ang makati dahil hindi ako gumagala and i was really expecting na, i would get gift packs. pero yun lang nkuha ko. kesyo naubos na daw kasi gift packs nla at yun lang meron cla. isa sa mga kinabwisit ko nun, afford ko naman bumili nung roll on na yun, bumyahe pa ako at inirisk ko class time ko. grabe! inemail ko talaga cla at sinabi ko na sobrang nadisappoint ako sa kanila... sabi sa akin sa reply sa email, thank you daw sa feedback ko... ok daw yung suggestion na isend na lang ang prize kesa ipapickup sa winner... pati yung "sorry" something na ipapadala nila, it took them some time bago ko mareceive... =(
buti na lang, that day, i was aiming to shoot two birds with one stone... at buti na lang, kahit magkalayo ang office ng garnier sa good skin labs, naclaim ko naman yung prize ko sa good skin labs... hay... naalala ko na naman yung inis ko sa kanila! 

tsk! hindi ko akalain na pangit pala talaga PR ng Garnier... sayang, ok pa naman yung brand/product...

Wow! I can't believe how unprofessional they were. Very disappointing nga. I've only been to few blogger events and fortunately for me, I haven't encountered anything like this. Sana event organizers should research and take care of the bloggers they invite kasi these bloggers are some of the keys for their brands to reach their market. Tsk tsk tsk.

yep, tumawag pa yang anna na yan sa phone ko.
1.) i already told her to contact another number dun parin sa luma tumawag - not following instructions
2.) and most importantly, tumawag SUNDAY ng hapon, di muna mag text kung pwede tumawag, ang sarap ibalik sa high school nito para makapag GMRC sya ulit, ginoong bata yun

uminit lalo ulo ko dun sa anna na iyon, kako once i publish this post, catharsis moment ko na since anyway 1wk na nakaka lipas, eh tumawag pa talaga sa phone number ko na kabilin bilinan ko na hindi ko na gasinong gagamitin, DUON PARIN TUMAWAG. not following instructions.
AT TUMAWAG, LINGGO. kamusta naman, di muna mag text para magpaalam baka tulog ako tas biglang mari ring ang telepono, bongang uminit ulo, bad trip!

tae nila parang sobrang ganda ng products nila, excuse me. unang lumabas pa lang yan may mga nag break out so never ko pa nasubukan yan.
tas pag sale sa head office ng loreal sa baba yung mga worth 250 nagiging 100 na lang so duh, ibig sabihin high way robbery ang bongang patong nila. 3 for 100 pa yung iba ni lang tig sampuan na sachet, oh ha parang panty lang sa kalye sa quiapo.
BUT IF the products work for you, that's nice ;-) my annoyance is with this Anna person, because that michelle person said this anna person is the point of contact who should've handled me better.

yep, yun na nga kung sino pa yung mga malalaki gaya ng clinique philippines and now garnier philippines yun pa yung mga shungaerz ang empleyado (cust care)
