REVIEW: LANEIGE COOL STAY POWDER Satin Matte Finish Powder Limited Release vs Revlon Colorstay Mineral Aqua Finishing Powder

Y'all know how I love Amore Pacific right?  Naturally, I'd patronize the two brands they have here in Manila.  This week is no exception.
Soon as i received the email that Laneige will be releasing new products, any cosmetic purchasing ban went out the window LOL.  and here we are, one of their limited releases.  the cool stay powder.
yeah, the cover isn't as snazzy as it looks on the brochure and it isn't as flashy as the usual Laneige packaging I'm used to.  it kinda reminds me of this western brand, clue the brand color is kinda of an pastel lime green it's a lauder brand and starts with a C.
I got me the first shade.  the lighter of the two they have
and it comes with a huge rubber sponge
nice considerate packaging on the sponge ey?
albeit really nice, soft and really puffy compared to any other foundation sponges of this nature, i just found this thing odd to be the thing to apply the loose powder on my face.  it's just too big for the container!
and this lid,  so tell me amore pacific, if you added hinges and a cap here, this thing would even be MORE expensive?
ah the description, and in English.
the ingredients and they're in English.  though don't ask me what gives the user the cool feeling (i didn't research it when i reviewed the revlon mineral aqua powders, i didn't research it now LOL)
a product insert, woah, who does that now? oh yeah, Clinique does hahaha
click on the picture below,  the product description is presented is several languages, one of which is English.
and a brochure, for the unsure, and for the people with no internet but want to read more about this product.
and our lady HyeGo ;-) and a how to ^_^
seeeeee, puff's too big.
i only ever expose 1-2 holes to reduce mess
what it looks like
and blended.  satin matte - YEAH ^_^
a shelf life of a year once opened.
am i happy or what?
Likes:
  • the product, just like my revlon colorstay mineral aqua foundation, i love love love the cooling effect it gives me when i apply this powder
  • the finish, it's matte but not flat, so yeah a satin matte finish!
  • no fragrance, for once!
  • the shade match (yeah the blinds where I was cast a shadow on my face so my face looks darker than my arm or neck) but 01 matches the fairness of the skin of my neck and arms
  • locally available
  • product insert, albeit that it's really getting archaic
  • lasts 4-6 hours before i have to blot the oils from my nose and forehead
  • doesn't break me out
  • light to medium coverage
  • covers my pores well
Dislikes:
  • the packaging, really Amore Pacific Laneige? really, for the price this plastic not so classy/chic packaging is the best you can come up with?
  • the puff - really Laneige, you couldn't find a supplier for a puff with that kind of quality but can supply puffs that can actually fit in the cheap packaging?
My review for the Revlon Colorstay Mineral Aqua Finishing Powder is below:
Their similarities and differences  are:
coverage - Laneige and Revlon's Finishing powder offer the same light to medium coverage so both powders are for touch ups and to set your bb creams or foundations
lasting power - both last at least 4 hours on my face before i need to blot the oil out from my nose and forehead (with Laneige lasting just a tad longer)
the finish - Laneige's is more of satin MATTE while Revlon's is on more dewy [wherein you actually see the shimmers if you don't shake well] Laneige's hide my pores well, while Revlon's make my pores look more obvious if i don't blend it well
cooling effect - both have cooling effect neither is cooler than the other
packaging - Revlon's is superior than that of Laneige's.  Revlon's cap has a compartment for its retractable synthetic brush while Laneige's sponge puff can't even fit in the Laneige container
puff vs synthetic brush - my vote is for the synthetic brush.  anytime you have something like this, you do NOT want something like a sponge absorbing the cooling liquid of the product.  a synthetic brush would be better able to spread the powder and therefore the cooling effect than something like a puff sponge that will only end up absorbing it it.
SPF - Revlon indicates its spf albeit only spf13 while laneige does not reveal any spf in its product even though the titanium dioxide offers some sun protection
price - high end vs drug store, no further explanation needed
availability - high end vs drug store again no further explanation needed, plus, Laneige's is for now, a limited release.  hopefully when they realize their market will like this, they come up with a better package than this current doohickey.
Overall - don't get me wrong i love the product INSIDE, and that's what matters, i can simply reuse one my revlon colorstay mineral aqua containers and put the content of my laneige in that and use the still usable revlon brush that comes with the package.

what's all this cooling stuff about? whatchatink of dermacool? have you tried any cooling stuff?

my sincerest apologies, however, at this point, my preference is to post about Asian cosmetics and skin care.
should you have further inquiries on Asian cosmetics, i'll be happy to oblige.
