COMPARATIVE REVIEW OF WATER FOUNDATIONS: LUNASOL MODELING WATER FOUNDATION VS LANEIGE WATER SUPREME FOUNDATION

and here we are, finally, i've been salivating over these two since they came out! both promise the weightless of water so let's see what we have here, shall we?
to the left we have Lunasol with its sleek and very cosmopolitan packaging in a glass bottle on on the right is Laneige's foundation also with it's its simple and to the point packaging with a description of what it has right in front.
the boxes bear the shades for ease of picking them out by the sales agents as they are stored upright in a drawer where you can only see the tops of the box as these drawers and full of these boxes side by side.  seeing what's written on the side of the boxes will be impossible.  so having the shade written on top of the boxes is more for the sales girls.
i chose the lightest shade, just so it would match the skin on my neck.
OC02 my shade in Kanebo's shade range, this shade is a middle shade, between my face and neck, this shade is lighter than my face but a tad darker than the skin on my neck
the ingredients of Laneige's water supreme foundation, conveniently written in english and found on the back of the box
instructions and a description of the Laneige water supreme foundation.
while below, i shrug.  oh well.
but lo! a description from imomoko.com

currently, this travel pointed foundation brush and the elf (eyes lips face) studio flat top powder brush are my brushes of choice in applying either of these two foundations.
and at the back you also get to see how much as spf each one offers.
both conveniently have efficient pumps
excuse the shade discrepancy, but essentially the lunasol oc01 is the same as the #13 true beige from laneige
but i guess the difference is really really as in really minuscule LOL
and on my face they offer the same amount of buildable light to medium coverage
ah well, if you will take photos with either of this on, make sure you have very good lighting and that the flash of your cam is really really good, led flashes or non-xenon flashes will result in a very reflective picture like below
ding ding ding ding ding! sorry no boxing ring bell hahaha
Aspect Lunasol Laneige
Shade Match a little, like just a tad darker than the skin on my neckevens out my neck and face
Coveragelight to medium - buildable coverage covers pores well, i need separate concealer under my eyessame
Finishmatte satin, slightly more matte than the kate mineral gel bbmilky glow, no shimmer, so like lunasol matte to a kind of satin, but less satin than their snow dual crystal foundation
Lasting Powersurprisingly, all day!same all i do is blot the oil from my nose and forehead, no need to retouch with powder on either side of my fez
Oil Controlneed to blot about 1-2 a day so it's pretty fair, 3/5same
Break Outnonenone
ScentNONEsame scent as with all their other foundations and bb, BUT mine though, smells oddly like old paper plus that scent they use, so baka umay na ko sa scent nila
Pumpalmost as superb as the renowned legendary pump on the revlon photoready foundationsad to say, it kinda feels like cheap plastic, but it works and it's the product inside that matters to me, and at least now it's not that doohickie with the press down pump and the product squirts up top! the water supreme has a regular pump
Blendabilitysuperior than the Laneige's, does not settle on pores, or on top of your balahibo (body hair on the face)it's not too watery at all, it kinda reminds me of the laneige snow crystal duo foundation in consistency and blendability, k fine it's like the photoready, CAN settle on your pores unless blended well
Smudge / wipe off factorit can smudge on the rims of my glasses but ...this one smudges more and wipes off more when i blow my nose, i see foundation on the tissue
SPF17 PA+15 PA+
Setting powder will help set, but once set, you're goodthis is more dimethicone-y, slide-y (but not too slippery) so a tad more powder to set this laneige foundation, funny how the snow crystal duo foundation doesn't budge as much as this water supreme
Flash photographywith a cam with a good flash then it's finesame
Packagingglass bottle, worrisome when traveling with it o.O but the lid stays secure and shut plastic bottle! this thing is even more expensive than the snow crystal duo foundation, yet it's plastic, sorry nitpicking (but then that's the point of a review)
Removalquite easy even with a cleansing tissue same
Oxidationnonenone
Lightness in feelingfeels almost weightless! not as weightless as Lunasol's but feels light nonetheless
PricePhP2750 for a whopping 25ml at Rustan's (the same from imomoko.com)PhP1950 for 35ml (PhP200 more than in Sg or Au)
and here we are.  i almost forgot which side is which! LOL
Judgment:
Laneige Water Supreme foundation: truth be told i much prefer the snow crystal duo foundation than this water supreme.  it feels like all they did to the snow crystal duo foundation was to water it down a bit and presto you now have a new water supreme foundation.  i prefer the finish of the laneige snow crystal duo foundation, too.  for once i'm not as proud to have purchased this water supreme foundation from Laneige as with my other Laneige purchases. hay, sya pa naman yung mas marami.
Lunasol Modeling Water Liquid Foundation: it's true to it's nature, it's 55% water, which gossmakeupartist hates, afaik, hehehe if this is like the nars sheer glow then here we go ;-)  as for this round though, Lunasol wins but not by much.
their drugstore sisters will still get more units sold than these, two, at least in the philippines.  but if some of you will venture in the higher end stuff, i highly recommend Lunasol. it's at least truer to it's marketing than the Laneige, at least for the water foundations.
so whatchatink bout these water stuff?

Wow. Yan ang detailed comparison! For someone like me who hasn't really been using makeup as often these days, di pa ako sulit sa high end foundation. XD Baka mag-expire bago ko magamit ang kalahati hahaha. Pero hey, at least, I know better now which means, someday pag mas masipag at mas maayos na akong mag-makeup, I should really try Lunasol. :))

Ay shucks. Di ko pa pala nababasa yun~! Sorry :( Eto pa lang naabutan ko. Di pa ako nakaka-backread (if there is a term hahaha) ng blog posts.

And yes, bb cream pa rin for me. XD Di ko pa makuhang mag-foundation madalas. Plus I gave my Photoready na lang to a friend's sister. Namumula ako sa pics sa Photoready shade na nabili ko. :( Akala ko match. Iba pa pala when pics have been taken~!

Ihave been waiting for this review!!!! When I read your Kate BB review I wanted to buy asap.. but then I saw this BB cream yung Dr. Jart and compared them both. For me, Dr. Jart works better pero syempre depende rin sa skin natin yun. But thanks for this review! LUNASOL is now in my list on what to try next. Keep blogging and reviewing love your posts dear

ah the photoready, i thought that was the bomb! but alas, mas maganda yung laneige snow crystal duo or even the laneige snow crystal bb cream for that matter, mas long lasting pa. now i don't know what to do with my photoready, di naman pwede irecycle yung bote, hayst.
hahaha yep, i have an equally long comparative table for the new etude house sun bb vs the laneige soothing cushion.
:P

yeh, the doctor jart, wasn't too thrilled about that, i like the doctor jart silver label, the one for oily skin.
hehehe yeh, lunasol is love love love, it's also pricey pricey pricey hahaha at least now we know why LOL
